Membership Application

Who can apply for an SM Advantage Card (SMAC)?

Individuals aged 18 and above can apply for membership in SM Advantage. Those who are below eighteen (18) years old can still join provided that their parents/guardians sign the "Parental / Guardian Consent" section found near the end of the Membership Application Form (MAF).

How can I apply?

Here are two ways on how you can apply for a SMAC membership:

You may purchase a SMAC Express Membership Kit from Cashier Counters of The SM Store, select SM Supermarket and SM Hypermarket, and Customer Service Counters of SM Malls for only P150.

You can get 50 bonus SMAC points if you purchase the Express Membership Kit online here for only P150.

How long does my membership last?

Your SM Advantage membership is valid for two years. The expiry date printed on your personalized SMAC indicates validity until the last day of the expiry month.

What is SMAC Express?

SMAC Express is the card included in SMAC Express Membership Kit you receive upon signing up. It serves as a temporary card that allows you to earn points right after purchase.

What is a personalized SMAC?

Your personalized SMAC bears your name and card number. It allows you to fully enjoy the privileges of being an SM Advantage member.

What will happen to the points I earned using my SMAC Express?

Points earned using your SMAC Express will automatically be transferred to your permanent SMAC upon claim.

What happens to my points if my SMAC Express expires before I submit my Membership Application Form (MAF)?

Your SMAC Express points expire together with your card if you fail to submit your MAF within the 2 years.

What happens to my points if I lose my SMAC Express before I submit my MAF?

Points in the SMAC Express will be forfeited if the temporary card is lost before the MAF is submitted.

How do I claim my personalized SMAC?

Surrender your SMAC Express (or your temporary card) to the Customer Service Counter at The SM Store after 4-8 working days from the SMAC Express’ date of purchase. Points Earning

How do I earn SMAC points?

Present your SMAC to the cashier before any purchase transaction at any SM Advantage partner establishment. Each point has a standard redemption value of P1.00. The standard redemption value for each partner can be read here.

I spent less than the minimum required amount of P200. Will I still earn points?

Yes, you can still earn a fraction of a point for purchases less than P200. Present your SMAC at the cashier to credit the corresponding points to your account.

Will my SM Advantage points expire?

Yes. All unused SMAC points expire 90 days after the expiration of the membership. Points that you have not redeemed before expiration are automatically forfeited. On the other hand, if you renew before the expiration date, all unused points will be transferred to your new SMAC.

How can I use my points to redeem rewards?

SMAC points, like cash, can be used to pay for your purchases at any SM cashier counter. A minimum balance of 20 points is needed to start redeeming rewards.

When can I start using my SM Advantage reward points for redemption?

You can start using your points to redeem reward/s upon accumulation of at least 20 points. However, there is no minimum redeemable reward value. Also, you may choose to accumulate more points to redeem items of higher value.

How can I check my SM Advantage points balance?

You can check your points balance through the following facilities:

  • Any cashier or Customer Service Counter of The SM Store, Watsons, or partner establishments
  • SM Advantage hotline at 833-8888/944-3888 for Metro Manila or 1-800-10-833-8888/1-800-8-944-3888 for areas outside Metro Manila
  • SM Advantage website: www.smadvantage.com
  • SMS: Text SMAC PTS (registered username) to 2966
  • MySMAC Mobile App downloadable from Google Play Store and Apple App Store

How can I update my personal membership information?

You can log on to www.smadvantage.com to update your profile. You may also visit the Customer Service Counter at The SM Store and fill out the Members' Info Update Form. Updating of details can also be done via the SMAC Hotline.

How do I register my SMAC to the website?

Visit www.smadvantage.com, and click "Register" on the top right hand corner. Due to system limitations, it may take 4-8 working days from date of purchase before the website recognizes your account as valid.

Card Security and PIN

What is a PIN?

The PIN or Personal Identification Number is a 4-digit code that is used as a security measure to minimize fraudulent use of the SM Advantage Card.

If you own a new SMAC, the combination of your birth month and year (e.g. birthday: January 19, 1984; PIN -0184) will be assigned as the default PIN. For added security, you are advised to change their default PIN via any of the different facilities provided for this purpose.

What do I do if I forget my PIN?

You may request to reset your PIN by calling the SMAC Hotline. Your new PIN will be in effect after three (3) working days.

Membership Renewal

How do I renew my SM Advantage membership?

Membership renewal for another two years is done by presenting your old SMAC and a valid government-issued ID and by paying the renewal fee of P100 or 80 SMAC points at any cashier or Customer Service counter of The SM Store.

Can I use my points to pay for the renewal fee?

Yes. Using your points to pay for your membership’s renewal fee gets you a 20% rebate after five (5) days.

How long does it take for my new SMAC is ready for claiming?

Your new SMAC will be ready for claiming within seven (7) days.

How do I know if my new SMAC is ready for claiming?

You will be informed via a direct SMS or e-mail to the contact details you have provided.

I am outside the Philippines. How do I renew or replace my SMAC?

You may renew your membership or replace a lost card through a representative. Your representative must bring the following: signed authorization letter, and photocopies of valid government-issued IDs of both member and representative.

When should I renew my SM Advantage Card?

You can renew your membership as early as three (3) months before your card’s expiration date. All unused points will be carried over to your new card if you renew at least 30 days before your card's expiration date. Otherwise, all remaining points will be forfeited.

Note: Your SM Advantage membership is valid for two (2) years from the date of card issuance and is renewable for another two (2) years.

How long does it take for points to be credited to my account?

It takes seven (7) to ten (10) days for points and transactions to be reflected on your account.

What is points transfer?

Points transfer is when you combine part or all of your points with another SM Advantage member.

How do I transfer points?

You may call the SMAC Hotline to request transfer of points. For SMAC BDO MasterCard cardholders, you may do so through the BDO Hotline. Transferred points will be reflected after three (3) working days.

Do transferred points expire?

Yes, they expire like regular points.

Lost & Damaged SMAC

What do I do if my SM Advantage Card gets lost?

To report a lost card and immediately block its use, you can choose from the following options:

  • Call the SM Advantage hotline at 833-8888/944-3888 (Metro Manila) or 1-800-10-833-8888/1-800-8-944-3888 (outside Metro Manila).
  • Log on to www.smadvantage.com, and click "Lost Card" on the top right hand corner.
  • Go to the nearest Customer Service Counter to report the loss and file a request for replacement.

A replacement fee of P100 must be paid at any cashier counter to replace lost card. You may claim your new SMAC two (2) weeks after you have submitted your request. Remaining points from your lost card will be automatically transferred to your new card.

What should I do in case my card becomes defective?

Should your SMAC not work, you may go to the nearest Customer Service Counter and request for a replacement card.

SM Advantage Cards carry a three-month warranty (from date of activation) against faulty smart chips or magnetic strips, during which time no fee will be charged for card replacement. After the three-month warranty period, replacement of cards with faulty chips or magnetic strips will be charged P100.

The warranty does not cover damage resulting from abuse, misuse and negligence on the part of the member. Therefore, the replacement fee of P100 will still be charged even within the three-month warranty period if the SMAC shows signs of physical damage (i.e., folded, warped, or scratched, etc.).

Change of Surname or Status

I just changed my marital status. How do I apply for a new card with my new surname on?

To update your surname, you may visit the Customer Service Counter at any branch of The SM Store and present a valid ID reflecting both your old and new surnames. A replacement fee of P100 is required.

SM Prestige

How do I become an SM Prestige member?

To be eligible for SM Prestige membership, you must be an active SM Advantage member with a spending of at least P300, 000 at The SM Store during your two-year membership. Your membership will be upgraded as soon as you reach the spending requirement. You may also be nominated by an SM retail establishment to qualify for the program.

How will I know if I have qualified for SM Prestige membership?

You will be notified through the following methods: transaction receipts, text message, telephone call, or email. For inquiries, please visit the Customer Service Counter of any branch of The SM Store, or call the SM Advantage Hotline: 833-8888/944-3888 (for Metro Manila) or 1-800-10-833-8888/1-800-8-944-3888 (for areas outside Metro Manila).

How do I get my SM Prestige Card?

To claim your SM Prestige Card, visit the Customer Service Counter of any branch of The SM Store. Present your SMAC and a valid ID.

What happens to the points I earned using my SMAC?

Your SMAC points will automatically be transferred to your SM Prestige Card.

How do I renew my SM Prestige membership?

Your SM Prestige membership will be automatically renewed after two (2) years provided that you maintain the minimum spending requirement of P150,000.

How do I know if I have qualified for Prestige membership renewal?

You will be notified via transaction receipt, text message, telephone call, or email.

Will I be provided a new SM Prestige Card when renewed?

Yes, you will provided a new SM Prestige Card upon renewal.

What do I do if my SM Prestige Card gets lost?

What happens if I don’t meet the minimum required spending for SM Prestige members?

Your membership will be reverted to SM Advantage.
